New SKINJOBS CD out now!
"Burn Your Rainbow"
Hey everyone, we're really happen to announce that our new CD "Burn Your Rainbow" is finally available! 9 tracks of sexy punk rock to sing along to while you're washing the dishes, taking the bus or cuddlin with yer favorite boiz & grrrlz. Weirdos, freaks and queers unite with anthems of love & lust, angst & frustration and other silly fun songs. Some of our friends were even kind enough to put their spoken word art as bonus tracks on the CD (check out www.wayoutwest.tv to see the tracks as they originally appeared)

One of the coolest things about this CD is that it's really a celebration of us and our friends. Not only with the spoken word bonus tracks, but with having AMAZING photos by Michael Wilde (capturing the excitement at our show in Olympia WA (Homo A Gogo) where the crowd took the stage and danced and sang with us) and the simple fact that we have THREE cool labels - our friends - helping release this CD, what more can we ask for?

Reviews of 'Burn Your Rainbow'
MRR March 2003
ÊNow this is what I call a punk record!!! ÊSKINJOBS are a trio of queer punks who donÕt take any shit but seem to have fun with it. ÊTaking on both the mainstream queer and straight societies, all while playing a style that reminds me of early COFFIN BREAK, ÊSKINJOBS show why itÕs so great to see so many queers in the scene. ÊÊNot only that, but SKINJOBS might have the line of the year with, ÒHe can be young and cocky or he can be old and stocky, as long as as his record collection keeps me a rockinÕÓ . ÊBuy, buy, buy ( but in a supportive, not overly consumerist way). Ê(JF)

FRONTIERS February 14, 2003 / Volume 21, Issue 21
"I'm queer!" bellow Vancouver-bred punkers the Skinjobs on "Recruiting," a track from their debut, "Burn Your Rainbow." It's a bold statement of queer identity, and just one of many that appear on this rockin' disc, which explores themes of love, lust, angst and the politics of sexual orientation in a way that makes punk rock seem brand-new again. Indeed, not since the early days of bands like Pansy Division and Extra Fancy has the genre sounded so fresh and inventive. Skinjobs, comprised of Mitch Fury (guitars, vocals and drums), Mason Newlove (bass and vocals) and Lee Hendon (drums, vocals and guitars), mix punk histrionics and queer sensibility with pop simplicity. But they aren't here to just appease the gay masses. On the contrary, they all but tear our current notions of gay pride to shreds on the empowered title track, on which they fearlessly proclaim: "What once was bold is now blasŽ / Redecorate, it's time to play." On the intoxicatingly sleazy opening track, "Peep Show Love," Fury and company sing about the joys of promiscuity, celebrating sex piggery as a sort of unification against the backdrop of sex clubs, red-light districts and Web sites ("Under the red neon / Latex and leather / The punks unite as one / Glory holes, buddy booths / Let's go and get it on"). There's a refreshing playfulness at work here as well: "Might as Well Be You" talks of Fury's desire to find the casual sex buddy of his dreams ("And he can be old and stocky / Or he can be young and cocky / As long as his record collection keeps me rockin'"), while the closing track, "Gender Bender," explores issues of sexual ambiguity with just the kind of brash, scruffy-headed confidence that can set a new sexual revolution in motion. With solid production and assured songwriting, "Burn Your Rainbow" is a must-have--an irresistible throwback to the kind of music that cool hetero bands like Rancid and Social Distortion used to put out. Long live the Skinjobs! --Ken Knox

OUT February 2003
Sounding both pissed off and cheerful, the fag and two dykes of Vancouver, CanadaÕs Skinjobs hammer out classic three-chord punk while hollering ÒFTM! MTF!Ó and other gender-bendy, antiassimilationist rants. With topics including recruitment claims and the indignities of childhood dress codes, thereÕs little in the music or the message that you havenÕt heard before. But this energetic and well-executed debut makes for fine get-trashed-and-party music, primed to bring the righteously indignant, mohawk- and fauxhawk-sporting queer bois and grrrls to leap to their combat-booted feet to heed its call ÒAnd if you wanna rock, put your hands in the air!Ó Chelsey Johnson

SKINJOBS video?
"New York City"
Still in the works, we've gotta raise some money (so buy our CDs!) but the amazing and talented Shawn Fedorchuk (Black Halos, Nasty On, Kittens) has agreed to work on a video for us using footage he took at our delightfully colorful first show back in 2000 edited with footage Mitch took in NYC that same year. We'll keep you posted when it's done - UPDATE, this is completely on hold due to time restraints, though we might work on colaborating with a bunch of artists to do 9 different art/video pieces with SKINJOBS music... if you know anyone interested, please get them to contact us!

Split 7" with Pansy Division?
"Wierd"
Still in the works, we'll let you know when it's all ironed-out, we plan on recording 'Wierd' and maybe another jem, 'Heavy Metal Recruiting' anyone? Check out Pansy Division's new full length CD out on Alternative Tentacles sometime real soon.

Most of the photos on this site (except on the 'fotos' and 'rockers' pages - credits given there) are by Michael, he's a cool guy who does cool film stuff in Seattle and he came out to see us at Homo A Gogo in Olympia on his own accord (okay, he probably was motivated by checkin out cute boys at the festival, but that's another story) and took photos and then sent them to us and refused payment... so we're give him a big hug and kiss right here and now on this website............................ mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmsmack!..... yeah!.... contact him at wilde@speakeasy.org
